ORIENTATION in ESCOBAR

June 2-5, 2011

We appreciate Andy and Lizet host our group again this year. They really take the time to pour into and help orientate our interns. Andy and Lizet are missionaries with World Gospel Mission. They live and have a Guarani-Jopara language Institute in the hills of Escobar (great view and great hikes). Andy is our former Guarani teacher.

In Escobar, the girls took a crash course in Guarani....but not without reminding all of us that language learning is so much more than just an academic exercise. When Christ become flesh and dwelt among us, he spoke the language of the common people. When we chose to invest time in learning the heart language of the people we are ministering to (in our case, Guarani), we are following the example of the Christ. We also had a Paraguayan history class and an expectations/Paraguayan culture class.
We had great devotional, prayer and singing times. We ate s’mores, watched The Mission one evening, and got to know each other a bit better.
