MOBILE CLINIC in VERAKUE
Saturday, June 06, 2009
The weather was beautiful today as we drove just a few miles outside of San Francisco to Verakue for the mobile clinic. After setting up and cleaning (everything gets a layer of red dirt bouncing along the roads), Jeff welcomed the patients and gave an evangelistic message about the symbol on the side of the mobile clinic, the snake Moses raised up in the desert.
As Jeff saw patients, the students helped stick patients to test for anemia, test urine and give out eye glasses. It was a joy to hear the believers who went with us share their testimonies to those waiting to see the doctor. We finished early (at 10:30). After sipping terere, we headed back to San Francisco.
At 3:00 we (plus Paraguay youth) met at Abby’s host home to play volleyball. Everyone had a great time. The students are learning more Guarani and Spanish and have a great attitude about learning.
